Hello furry parents - I’m a 38yo single male living and working from home in Pleasant Hill with my 3yo furry friend Strider. She’s an Italian water dog from Serbia and the sweetest little pup once she gets to know you. Takes her a small amount of time to warm up as she’s a bit shy. She loves cuddles, water, cheese bones, treatos, hikes and chasing squirrels. She has a coat like a Doodle and everyone thinks she is but no shedding at all. Has been to the dog park and socialized through out her whole life. Sleeps most of the day but needs exercise around 5pm (1mi). I travel 2-3 weeks out of the year and looking for a good set of pawrents to share some split duties with.

Wyatt Earp
Pleasant Hill, CABreed: Labrador Retriever
Weight: 80 lbs
Age: 3 years old
Gender: Male
*surveys the room* So, who else here thought it was a good idea to get a puppy in 2020? Just me? A friend of a friend knew someone who bred hunting labs in SCAL. A few days before Christmas as LA began to shut down due to COVID the hunter/buyer of an 8 week old puppy backed out because it had an overbite. Guess who got talked into driving down to pick up a chocolate lab puppy that no one wanted? Although I did not follow the recommendation of the breeder and get braces for my puppy (!) I did enroll him in extensive training courses, buy health insurance, and shower him with love and attention. Wyatt Earp is neutered, chipped, fully trained (off leash, basics, etc.), crate trained, house trained, and although still somewhat a puppy promptly runs out of batteries at about 9:13p every night. On the dot. The “Sheriff” has been to day care and has been boarded at several local facilities with no issues. For most long trips he boards with his trainers in Colfax - also with no issues. He gets along great with all sorts of dogs and cats. He loves gnawing on moose antlers and watching tv. He and my 8yr old walk every evening and other than a propensity to pretend to be starving to death (typical lab!) and a slight intolerance to chicken - he’s a good lad. Wyatt possesses all the typical attributes of a lab. He’s gentle, loyal, curious, and enjoys a serious game of tug o war. We live in Pleasant Hill with a fully fenced backyard with no access from the street which is a dead end road. I am happy to return daycare and/or boarding opportunities. I work from home so am here all the time!

Callie
Pleasant Hill, CABreed: Rottweiler
Weight: 80 lbs
Age: 9 years old
Gender: Female
Hello! We are a fun, active, and busy family with 2 sons - ages 9 and almost 11. We have always been a rottweiler family, but we were between dogs. Callie was raised by people who kept her in the backyard her entire life. She hated it and would frequently escape. That led Callie to our family in July 2022. We adopted her (with approval from her prior owners) and she has flourished in our family. She is a sweet and loving girl. She is great with kids and loves other dogs too. She does still have anxiety from her prior life and sometimes has an accident in the house, despite being housebroken. Other than that, she is a good girl.
Sundae
Pleasant Hill, CABreed: Boxer/Mastiff Mix
Weight: 90 lbs
Age: 7 years old
Gender: Female
Sundae is quite the cuddle bug! She isn’t a fan of other dogs, but loves humans. She is content throwing a ball in the backyard, or just hanging out getting her belly rubbed. She loves her little sister who drops food on the ground from her high chair, and is especially happy when she gets to eat oranges. She also loves celebrating holidays, Bay Area sports teams, and the seasons by changing up her signature bandanas!
Barkley
Pleasant Hill, CABreed: Terrier/yorkie mix
Weight: 15 lbs
Age: 12 years old
Gender: Male
Hi, I am a new transplant to the East Bay area of California. I moved here from Chicago in 2022 to be closer to my daughter and her family who live in Oakland. I have a nice little ranch house, 3 bedroom two bath with a big fenced yard in the back that I fortified to be escape-proof since Barkley likes to scramble out when he can to explore the neighborhood. The house also has an automatic doggie door so the dogs can go out to the backyard and come back in whenever they want, or of course I let them out from the back sliding doors. I adopted Barkley from a shelter when he was not yet a year old and in 2024, he will be 14 years old. People always think that he is much younger though because he is sprightly and happy and interested in everybody and extremely friendly, especially with kids where I have to tell him to stop licking. He is completely housetrained and very healthy in general. All of his shots are up-to-date. I found a wonderful vet in Pleasant Hill that I bring them to. Loves riding in the car, he goes on RV trips with me and can be a little lonely left by himself, which is why I am interested in Wolfie. I walk him once or twice a day and we often go to dog parks or walk the trails where he’s allowed. He’s fine with dog parks as long as he’s only with small dogs. With large dogs he’ll get aggressive when he sees them playing with each other, trying to get in the middle of it and barking his fool head off. I call him Officer Barkley because he doesn’t like to see any rough stuff. While he knows the basic commands like sit and off, he doesn’t have very good recall, and his terrier instinct will kick in if he sees any small animal or a cat or even somebody walking their dog go by. So I keep him on a leash all the time outside. He has two collars, one with his ID tag and the other is a Fi GPS collar in case he escapes somewhere. Barkley is the most affectionate dog I’ve ever had and I’ve had dogs all my adult life. He loves to be held. He loves to cuddle. He loves to lie next to you when you’re watching TV or sitting on the floor or puttering around the house. Though he’s the only dog here, Barkley is used to sharing with another dog as my daughter has a dog and when I adopted Barkley, I adopted him along with another dog that my brother now has. He’s not food, aggressive, and shares toys and so on.

My partner and I rescued Odie recently and he is our baby and world. Odie is a 9 month old labradoodle - he is house trained and sleeps in a crate at night. Odie loves going on hikes off leash, playing fetch and swimming. As long as he gets to let his energy out once or twice a day doing these activities, he is the chillest puppy I have ever met. While I’m working during the day, he likes to spend most of the day sleeping. Mornings and evenings are his active time. Whether it’s errands, grabbing lunch, dinner, he always wants to come and I bring him with me, whenever I can, but he is also fine with staying home. All around Odie is our adventure buddy, cuddle buddy and everything in between.

Many dog owners wonder if boarding is good for their furry companions. The answer depends on your dog's personality, needs, and the type of boarding you choose. Here are some factors to consider:
Social Dogs
If your dog is social and enjoys the company of other dogs, a dog community boarding option can be a great experience.

Familiarity
Being in a home environment with routines similar to their own makes dogs feel more comfortable and secure.
Social Interaction
Dogs enjoy playing and interacting with humans and other pets, which helps keep them happy and mentally stimulated.
Less Stress
Avoiding the noise and confinement of traditional kennels can lead to a less stressful experience for your dog.
Finding The Perfect Match: Matching Dogs For Community Boarding
In the Pleasant Hill Dog Community Boarding, creating the right pairings between dogs is essential for a harmonious experience. Here's how we ensure the perfect match:
Assessing Compatibility
We carefully assess each dog's temperament, size, and energy level to match them with suitable companions.
- Temperament: Dogs with similar temperaments tend to get along better. For example, playful dogs are often matched with other playful dogs.
- Size: Smaller dogs are paired with dogs of a similar size to prevent unintentional rough play.
- Energy Level: High-energy dogs are matched with other active dogs, while calmer dogs are paired accordingly.
Trial Playdates
Before the boarding period, we arrange trial playdates to ensure the dogs are compatible. This allows us to gauge their interactions and make any necessary adjustments.
Communication With Owners
We maintain open communication with dog owners to understand their dog's preferences and any special requirements, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for every participant.
Preparing Your Dog For Boarding: What To Expect
Preparing your dog for boarding, whether in a traditional facility or a community setting, is essential for a stress-free experience. Here's what to expect:
Familiarize Your Dog
- Gradual Introduction: If possible, introduce your dog to the boarding environment gradually. Visit the place or meet the other community members before the actual stay.
- Packing Familiar Items: Bring your dog's favorite toys, blankets, or bedding to provide comfort and familiarity.
Vaccination And Health Records
Ensure your dog's vaccinations are up-to-date, and provide copies of their health records to the boarding facility or community members for everyone's peace of mind.
Medications And Special Needs
If your dog has any medical conditions or requires medication, clearly communicate this to the caregivers, providing detailed instructions for their care.
Emotional Preparation
Spend quality time with your dog before boarding to alleviate separation anxiety. A calm and reassuring departure can help your dog feel more at ease.
