Hi everyone! My husband, Bleu, and I are new to the Bay Area and we are excited to meet some new pups! Some of Bleu’s favorite things are belly rubs, squeaker toys, playing hide and seek, and to chase or be chased! We adopted Bleu in 2022 and we have trained through behaviors with him as he was found stray. Because of this we are very knowledgable in dog cues, separation anxiety, and fear based reactivity. Generally, once he gets to know you and your pup he won’t be able to get enough of you! We’d love to help you out and trade services when needed. Thank you!

Yoshi is a 3 year old Lab - Corgi mix (you have to see it to believe it). Yoshi is a short chonky cuddle bug. He takes his cuddling duties very seriously, and loves to cozy up to humans as they fall asleep. Playing fetch is 90% of his personality. Yoshi also loves to play with other dogs, although he is possessive about his ball so best to keep them hidden :) Unfortunately he does not do well with cats or children. Yoshi and I would love to meet you and your fur baby for play dates, boarding or dog-friendly hikes and trips ain and around the Bay!

Whiskey

  Age: 1 year old

  Gender: Female

Hi! New to this! We have a beautiful English cream golden retriever girl, 7 months old. We are occasional looking for a dog swap/watch for weekend ski trips. We are in a townhome and have gated floors, so we can always separate the dogs if they are too wild. We are near a park and sometimes walk/drive there to play fetch.

Picture of dogs

Dubu

Sunnyvale, CA

  Breed: Jindo mix

  Weight: 25 lbs

  Age: 4 years old

  Gender: Female

I live in an apartment in Sunnyvale with my boyfriend and my dog Dubu! We live right across the street from a large park. Both my boyfriend and I work from home. If one of us goes into the office, the other will be at home. My dog Dubu is a friendly girl. She likes to play with other dogs, but only if they want to play. She's generally very quiet and to herself when we are with her at home. We have a morning and evening walk before feeding and we occasionally go out in the afternoon for another walk or train at the park. However, she has a high prey drive and will want to chase squirrels/lizards. She has heavy shedding seasons around April and October, but most of the year she has minimal shedding. She also has a lot of anxiety when she hears the Slack notification sound :( we're working on training her, but still a work in progress! I can host most dogs as long as they are house broken. I prefer not to have any accidents in the home, but understand it could happen. Ideally the dog won't mind any noises from our neighbors walking around in the halls/stairs. We are on the second floor and may not be able to accommodate dogs >40 lbs.

I have a 60 lbs goldendoodle - neutered and house trained. He is very playful and loves meeting new people and dogs alike! Lots of head scratches and belly rubs and a few treats and you will be his best buddy! I stay in an apt, but it's big enough to allow me to host 1 more big dog ( under 100lbs). My society has a dog walk area, as well as two fenced dog parks. I prefer dogs that are non-shedding and of similar size as my dog ( 60 lbs). I also wfh full time, so I'll never be leaving your dog alone at home while their stay here :)

Mia & Jagger

Sunnyvale, CA

  Breed: Papillon

  Weight: 5 lbs

  Age: 9 years old

  Gender: Female

  Breed: Border Terrier

  Weight: 15 lbs

  Age: 3 years old

  Gender: Male

We have two dogs. Mia is a 6 pound Papillon and Jagger is a 15 pound Border Terrier. Both friendly with proper introduction to a new dog. Both are good around children.Jagger is just 15 months and pretty energetic. Loves to tug and play with other dogs. Mia is friendly with dogs of all sizes. She does not play with other dogs and will tell off a dog that bothers her. Being only 6 pounds she has this down, so dogs will just leave her alone. Both Mia and Jagger are crate trained. They sleep in crates and will spend time in their crates during the day if need be. We could host a dog, preferably 25 pounds or less. He/she must be potty trained and spayed/neutered. He/she must be friendly around other dogs. We have a gated backyard and gated front yard. I am retired and home a lot during the day. When I am not home the dogs will be in the backyard or if they are trained/crate trained they can be in the house. I would prefer having a person who is hosting my dogs that they also spend some time home during the day and have a fenced yard.

  Weight: 20 lbs

  Age: 4 years old

Our doggo Barnes is super sweet and gentle, loves his walks, pets and treats. We live in a townhome (without a yard but with a dog park nearby) so it’s not as comfortable for the doggo when we have furfriends over who are larger than 45 lbs. He’s pretty chill and gets along with all but so he tends to play better with non-puppies/dogs similar in size. Barnes is very well potty trained but he tends to shed quite a bit.

What To Look For In A Dog Boarding Community

When considering a dog boarding community for your furry friend, it's essential to choose one that aligns with your dog's needs and expectations. Here are some key factors to keep in mind:

Community Guidelines

When considering a dog boarding community, it's essential to evaluate certain key factors. Firstly, make sure the community has clear and well-defined rules in place, covering aspects such as pet care standards, emergency procedures, and communication protocols. These rules provide a structured and secure environment for your dog. Secondly, inquire about the criteria or assessments the community uses to gauge compatibility among dogs. Understanding how they match dogs based on temperament and behavior helps prevent conflicts and fosters a harmonious atmosphere, ensuring your dog's safety and happiness during their stay.

Compatibility Assessment

It's important to prioritize your pet's comfort and safety. Start by inquiring about their behavioral evaluation process, which helps determine how well your dog will integrate into the group and can preemptively identify any potential issues. Additionally, setting up a meet-and-greet session between your dog and other community members' dogs is an excellent way to assess compatibility and ensure a harmonious environment for your furry companion. These proactive steps play a crucial role in creating a positive and stress-free experience for your pet within the community.

Emergency Protocols

Prioritizing your dog's safety and well-being within a dog boarding community involves careful consideration of their emergency preparedness. Confirm that the community has a designated emergency contact who can effectively manage unexpected situations, providing you with peace of mind that your dog will receive proper care when needed. In addition, inquire about the community's health care plan for handling medical emergencies, ensuring they have access to veterinary care if required. These measures ensure that your beloved pet's health and safety are a top priority within the community setting.

Preparing Your Dog For Boarding

Preparing your dog for their boarding experience is vital to ensure a smooth transition. Here's what you need to know:

Familiarize Your Dog

  • Gradual Introduction: Introduce your dog to the community gradually. Start with short visits or playdates to familiarize them with the environment and other dogs.
  • Sleepovers: Consider arranging sleepovers to help your dog get used to staying in a different place.

Pack Essentials

  • Food and Medication: Pack enough food for your dog's stay, along with any necessary medications. Include clear instructions for feeding and dosage.
  • Comfort Items: Bring your dog's favorite toys, blankets, and bedding to provide them with a sense of comfort and familiarity.

Tips For A Positive Dog Boarding Experience

To make your dog's boarding experience as positive as possible, consider these helpful tips:

Communication Is Key

  • Regular Updates: Stay in touch with the community members while you're away. Request updates on your dog's well-being, activities, and any concerns.
  • Emergency Contacts: Provide multiple emergency contacts, including your vet's information, in case of any health issues.

Prepare Your Home

  • Safety Check: Ensure your home is safe for hosting another member's dog if you're taking part in the community. Remove hazards and secure any dangerous items.
  • Supplies: Stock up on essential supplies, including food, water bowls, and poop bags, to make the visiting dogs stay comfortable.

Returning Home: Transitioning Your Dog

Help your dog transition back home smoothly after their boarding experience:

Reintroduction to Home
